Into a musical conundrum

How to create the perfect playlist for a long-distance journey?

On this surreal walk across northern Spain, I’ve been struggling to find the perfect music to listen to. So far I’ve rediscovered Dry The River, whose lyrics have a medieval twist that complements the historical aspect of the Camino. I’ve listened to several musicals from front to back as singalong fodder. But nothing is quite nailing it.

Any recommendations to a) help take my mind off the pain in my feet and motivate me to simply keep moving forward, b) enhance the beauty of the Spanish landscapes around me, and/or c) get me addicted to something in the same way I first got addicted to The Beatles and didn’t stop listening to them for a full two years?

Pls add recos to this Spotify playlist. Will listen to all.

  1. May sound crazy, but I would be tempted in your shoes – no pun intended – to lean into the walking pain. For example, something like I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles) by The Proclaimers would make me laugh and help me with walking.

Otherwise, just on word association, I would recommend checking out an album by Buena Vista Social Club, purely because they have a song called De Camino a la Vereda that I quite like.

    Hope either suggestion helps!

    1. Both fab suggestions – adding them to my playlist now. Thank you Lewis!
